its all a bit mis-leading

some of you may already know but things actually changed very quickly when I got here. On the first night when I went for drinks with Nick, Robin and Danny something VERY significant happened. During the course of the day I had got a general feeling for various reasons tha the Qatar situation had moved an apace since Robin had recruited me.

I accepted a job here under the guise of being based in Bahrain but with a view to travelling allot and eventually (6 - 12 months) moving on to work from the Qatar office. Everyone was merry and tongues somewhat loosened so I told my boss what a complete and utter.....only joking ha ha...I asked him if the situation in Qatar had moved on.

He looked thoughtful and then said how would you feel about going to Qatar within the next 6 weeks. Naturally there and then I said 'yeah, whatever you want'. Inside I was a little perplexed. It seemed that I had been here for 36 hours and the goal posts had not been moved but rather relocated....to a different country. Laura was equally upset by this news given that a factor in us moving to Bahrain was to be near her sister and husband and their 3 gorgeous children.

You will understand that this matter was not posted because it was for Laura and I to discuss etc... Anyway, the bottom line is that we realised we were always going to end up in Qatar and ultimately it made more sense to go direct. This conclusion was not reached overnight and it did cause Laura and I allot of upset...but as per normal Laura was my little rock and pointed me back on course.

So the title of this blog may have to change to Duncan in Bahrain because Laura will not join me here in Bahrain. We will visit from Qatar....flights are about 80 quid sterling and we will be visiting her sister et al quite regularly.

The new blog title (and I will start an entirely seperate one, will be called Duncan & Laura in Qatar - I know its original...took me ages to come up with that..infact I have headache cos I had to use a whole one of the two little grey cells I have

So the visit to Doha, Qatar was much much more significant than just a business trip. Laura has been to Bahrain 4 times and her sister provided a very good barometer for what I could expect from Bahrain. Doha? Where.....I hadn't any knowledge of the place. Apparently its like Bahrain but 10 years behind in terms of development. The flight was 25 mins and a met an expat on the plane who was very interesting to chat to re Doha and background expat info.

Well....what can I say...Bahrain is amazing...dont get me wrong...it really is lovely, but it is a small island...Qatar is my bag completely.

Picture shows the first picture I took on arrival in paradise (thats over egging it a little but hey, I am an actor darling...well almost...oh no I am, oh yes your not) - where I am going to work? Oh yeah, here....ha ha ha haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa bring it on babey
